My story was a lot like Kyla’s. When I started writing Orcasoul, I wasn’t trying to become a published writer. I just needed to get the pain out. I had just been diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening autoimmune disease—one that still has no cure. And on top of that, I’d just been left behind by people I loved more than my own life.
There wasn’t much I could do but write, because what can you do, really, when your life is turned upside down and you feel like there is nobody left in the world who understands?
Everything was so fresh, so new. I didn’t know anyone with a disease like mine, didn’t really know how to find solace in all the mess.
But somehow, out of the mess, something beautiful began to take shape. Orcasoul came alive—becoming something far greater than I ever imagined, at a time when I felt completely lost.
Now, years later, I’m excited for this story to find a home. For you all to meet Kyla, the mysterious orca, and the incredible bond that is coming to be on their way to healing.
Orcasoul is a story about how there is a way, even when we can’t see it. A story created to help people who, just like me, were, or are, stuck in a dark place and might need a helping hand—something that can provide direction in a world spinning too fast for them to catch up.
It’s also a story that helps us reconnect with nature and the peace it brings. One that reminds us we can still bloom—in ways we never imagined.
If you feel like that is something for you, leave a comment.
Let’s start a conversation 🙂
